Swedish massage, like Californian massage, is a dynamic technique consisting of various maneuvers applied to the muscles and joints. It is also one of the most popular massages for athletes, focusing on joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles.
The primary purpose of Swedish massage techniques is to get the blood flowing to the heart. The benefits are numerous: to relax and unwind the body and mind.
Learning Swedish massage
by Chantal Lehmann
In the fall of 2001, I moved to Texas for three months to work closely with all the therapists at the “Destination Spa” at the Green House. This ultra-luxurious establishment, composed of 25 suites, was reserved for women only. Support was provided from the moment you woke up until you went to bed. The morning was reserved for physical activity, and the afternoon for spa rituals. At this time, I developed a particular method of working to conceive rituals for the introduction and conclusion of the treatments.
During this period, I received instruction in Swedish massage from very experienced practitioners who also had a thorough knowledge of human anatomy.
